Are you a feminist? Does the label make you uncomfortable? It shouldn't.
Every woman has been negatively impacted by gender inequality. It shouldn't come as a surprise that all men have also been deeply effected by these same injustices. In many cases, gender discrimination has stolen the voices, gifts, rights, safety and in some instances, the lives of women all over the world. It has stunted the growth of mankind; shattered spirits; and taken from us great scholars, artists, mothers, writers, humanitarians, and leaders that would have made a true difference in the lives of all people. If you are a believer in basic human rights, then you also believe in fighting for gender equality. You are a feminist.
This is not a discussion of Men vs. Women. This is a battle for equal rights and empowerment for all regardless of gender. It is our responsibility, both men and women banded together, to battle violence and discrimination of women and girls around the globe. This is the war to win. We are on the same side and should be expanding our network of allies to combat these injustices. Together, men and women, we are stronger; united we create a more beautiful and peaceful universe.
We wrote this song,“The War to Win”, for a young woman who is a warrior in the truest sense of the word. She survived unthinkable abuse by the hands of a loved one with the system, her family, and the odds stacked against her. Today she shares her story with others who have gone through similar harrowing experiences to help facilitate the process of healing.
lyrics
Fear ignore abhor
Seared by the horror
When the past and his tortures call
Hear the little demons sing like angels
Prove to them you're more than the fall
Ignore the demons when they sing like angels
Sure you are
Pure as you begin
Fight for the heart
For the war to win
Ignite bright white
Sheer
Fight the night
Even when the past begins to scorch
Keep the fire burning in the rain
At the darkest moment hold your torch
Keep the fire burning in the rain
Sure you are
Pure as you begin
Fight for the heart
For the war to win
Tears incite insight
Clear for the flight
All your stars burning North and South
Burn the maps baby light the way
Keep on burning in the pouring rain
Brave the fire baby light the way
Sure you are
Pure as you begin
Fight for the heart
For the war to win
Orbiting spinning all the same
You have the strength to tear us all apart
Sustained by a primeval flame
You have the strength to tear it all apart
