After high profile acoustic performances with LACUNA COIL and at DRAGON*CON 2010/2012, electronic-rock quartet I:SCINTILLA felt the need to experiment with stripped-down unplugged sounds. After a few inspired recording and mixing sessions, the result is the new acoustic EP "Marrow 1."
In the first of what will be a long line of themed "Marrow" EP's, the band abandons its stylish metal-electronica signature and opts for a raw direct presentation of five new recordings. Included in the set are the new song "Drag Along," two reworked favorites from 2010's "Dying & Falling" ("Ammunition," "The Shake"), and two interesting covers (IAMX, Devo).
The songs showcase the exceptional talents of lead singer Brittany Bindrim, her insightful songwriting, and the band's musicianship. As a special treat, her father, Julius Bindrim, contributes his vocal and guitar talents to three tracks.
Jennifer ROCKS! I've enjoyed other Ayria albums, but going through them all again, I'd have to say this latest one is definitely her best (or at least my favorite). It's got all the attitude, personality and beats of the previous releases, but kicks it up a notch with more verve, more power, more industrial sheen, and even better songwriting. Reminds me of when I heard NIN's "Pretty Hate Machine" for the first time. Makes me wish I'd bought the special edition version... Highly recommended! Fahrenheight Nova
